Swollen Eye Blues

Around ten o'clock this evening, I noticed that my left eye felt all dry and scratchy. I was about to get ready for my walk, when I looked in the mirror and noticed that my eye was swollen. My eyes usually aren't prone to swelling that much, and the last time I had something like this was when I was a kid.

I put a warm cloth on it and that helped me feel a little bit better, but it didn't do anything for the swelling right under my eye. At some point, I said, "fuck it, I'm not going to sit here all damn evening and wait for the swelling to go down. I'm going for a walk." And so, out I went and did my usual one hour, three mile hike. I came back and looked in the mirror. Yep...still swollen.

So...now it's one thirty in the morning and there's still swelling under my eye. I took some Benadryl and am planning on going to bed soon. Hopefully it will be either gone or significantly improved by morning. I'm wondering if maybe I should make an appointment with my doctor in the morning if the swelling isn't down...just in case I have something crazy like pink eye and have to go on antibiotics.

Any thoughts?

How close it it to your eyelid? The one thing I can think of is a sty (sp?) if it looks like it could go up to where your eyelashes are.

Hmm, it could be so many things. If the swelling isn't down in 24hrs I'd see an eye Dr about it, just for peace of mind. My bf is prone to styes and his Dr tells him to put warm, damp compresses on them and that usually does the trick. And myself, I get swelling under my eyes when I have a lot of sinus congestion so it makes me look like I have bags under my eyes.
