Teasing Motorcyclists

This evening, I was stopped at a light and I watched in my rear-view mirror as a motorcyclist cut off the car in the other lane He stopped next to me, and I just knew he was going to try to cut me off too once the light turned green. So...what did I do? I decided to be an ass because I'd had my fill of cyclists doing dumb things this summer. I sped up so that it would be difficult to pass me. Ordinarily, he'd be able to pass most traditional cars with his bike, but not the Prius! The electric motor gives it infinite torque, so it's able to accelerate from 0-40 surprisingly fast. My car can beat out most other cars at a stoplight. (Once, my mother-in-law beat some kids driving their parents' fancy car at a light. The looks on their faces as we careened by them were priceless). So...I accelerated the car to 40 mph and leveled off because I wasn't about to race him. The guy on the bike "retaliated." He waved at me (really, it wasn't an obscene gesture) and then did a wheelie. My jaw must have hit the ground. I wasn't expecting him to do that at all.

[livejournal.com profile] doomsey thought it was hysterical and he later explained to me that the cyclist most likely didn't know that Priuses were capable of doing that. The guy must have been impressed and decided to show off by popping a wheelie.

You Are Going To Be In So Much Trouble When We Get Home...

-Being dragged out to dinner in the city yesterday evening when my neck was getting sore (especially after my physical therapist told me to find out where my limits are and to not cross them so the muscles in my neck can start healing) = Not very cool.

-Having [livejournal.com profile] doomsey almost crash my little red Prius by not putting the car in park, getting out of the car, and then handing the key to the valet = Very very bad. I assure you that, if he had crashed it, there would have been lots and lots of yelling...and maybe a couple of wacks with the purse for good measure too...

Road Rage

I would have loved to have called the cops on two people today. I was on the expressway heading into work when I saw a green pickup, which was originally in the middle lane, cut off a white Subaru in the left-hand lane. The guy in the White Subaru got pissed off, went into the middle lane, and then cut off the green pick-up in the left lane in order to get back at the guy. The asshole driving the green pick-up truck retailated. He went into the breakdown lane on the left hand side, and then cut off the White Subaru, who was in the left lane. After I saw that, I figured that, if things had continued like that, someone could have been hurt or killed. I would have called the cops, but I didn't have 9-11 on speed dial and, the way bluetooth was set up, the car wouldn't let me dial when I was driving. Unfortunately, I had my phone in my purse and couldn't get it out.

Fortunately, they both decided to knock if off. The guy in the green pickup got off the expressway and the white Subaru went on his way without further incident.

There is a special hell...

...for people who merely pull into spaces at the gas pump that you have spent the last minute trying to back into. There is also a special section reserved for people who pull this same stunt after you have waited two minutes for said spot. This ended with me having to turn the car around...again...and pull into another pump once it was available.

I swear...I really hate people sometimes...

[Edit: My car is a piece of shit anyway. I should have just continued to back into him just for kicks. "Oops...sorry...I was backing up into the spot and you ran into me. Heh heh.]

A Public Service Announcement

If you put a "Jesus Loves Me" bumper sticker on your car and cut people off on the expressway, you're still an asshole.

Speaking of things going boom -- Part 2

Remember how I said that recently, a camera, computer, and two cars broke this past month and had to be fixed? Well...now you can add "human being" to the list too. I am broken. And of course I have to find new and more exciting ways to break, huh? Between the co-pay and the medications, I must have spent eighty or ninety dollars. To top it all off, one of my medications was not covered by insurance and I had to pay cash for it. Oh...and I also have to go back and see the doctor again in another ten days so that's another co-pay...

Well...I guess eighty or ninety dollars isn't that much when it comes to health care. Many people have to pay a lot more than that I suppose. It's really annoying after having to shell out a ton of money for other stuff though.

Speaking of things going boom... (Otherwise known as "A very expensive week"

...everything is breaking! A week ago, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey had to take his camera in to get the shutter replaced since it hasn't been working right. Yesterday, one of the drives on [livejournal.com profile] doomsey's desktop computers broke. This afternoon, we ended up taking the prius to Carstar because there is a dent on the metal under the doors, which was most likely caused by a shopping cart. When I was driving back from Carstar with [livejournal.com profile] doomsey in the car, he noticed that it was making a noise as if exhaust wasn't going through it. Yep. We had just taken our one car in, and noticed that we were having a problem with the other one. Great. The service garage told us that it should probably be okay, but we should drive with the windows down and be careful. Fun!
