doomsey and I went out to Trader Joe's this afternoon so that I could get stuff for baking and other things. It's not just cold. It is *fucking* cold! Right now, it's -2 degrees. Tonight, the lows are going to be between -5 and -9 with a wind chill of -20 to -30. Brrrrr!!! Cold Cold Cold!

Sure. I'm pretty sure mine will start though. We keep our cars in our garage. It's not heated, but it we leave an incandescent light bulb on, which keeps things from freezing. I take it you leave your car outside?

Yup, but it's always started before. However, when it's this cold, I tend to expect the worst. Also, I tend to live under this little grey cloud that rains down on me alone.

On the other hand, barring unusual mechanical failure, if all you have to do is drop off grades and check your box, I'd be happy to make the schlep for you. You are on the way.

Trader Joes! I am so jealous. The nearest one to me is at least a half hour and it is a tiny one. Bah!

I haven't even been out of my apartment for two days. I'm sick and it's just too cold. My back door is frozen shut - it's crazy! I'm not from Chicago - but still I don't remember it being this cold in December.

I'm jealous you have a garage. my car's out in the cold and probably won't start. we'll find out later...

at least it's the holidays this week though:)

Yesterday I went to a class in the city and had the bright idea of parking 3 blocks away from it. That was the longest 3 blocks I ever walked in my life, my coat, hat, and boots proved utterly useless by the time I was out of the parking lot. I know I've been out in negative-degree temperatures before but it felt like the coldest EVER.
