Instant Snow! The Musical!

Here it is! The video! As promised!

This is my first attempt at editing videos. I learned how to use imovie as a I went along. Notice how the end is a little bit more sophisticated then the beginning. I always thought video editing was beyond me, but after playing around with it, I discovered that it really wasn't that hard.

Oh...and I tried to use Foreigner's "Cold as Ice" in the background, but stupid YouTube muted it. Many thanks to both YouTube and the recording studio in question for stifling creativity. I ended up going back to the video, removing the original song, and substituting "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd. It kind of works.

Actually, I heard that YouTube is muting a lot of videos lately because it lost a contract with a recording studio. Next time, I'm going to have to do a search for the song I plan to use on YouTube to see if the videos were muted or pulled before I put it in a video.

Adopt one today!

How neat! I loved hearing the snow crunch under your feet (it's weird, the stuff we miss when we move to the South). You have a nice voice, too. *g*

Awww...thanks!

Very cool experiment. I like the instant snow and well as the frozen bubble. I somehow envy your weather suddenly. :)

Hah hah! Now you're changing your tune! :)

I still want to switch with you though. We've had too many cold days. :P

Well you seem to have a knack for it! Very fun and interesting. The frozen bubble was awesome too.

Thanks. [livejournal.com profile] doomsey told me it was five minutes too long, and that I could have easily done it in half a minute, but the point was that I was trying to learn how to make videos so I threw a lot of stuff in there that I didn't need...like the song.

Oh, that's so totally cool. Thanks for sharing. My bird board likes science projects like this, so I'm going to go link your video.

Aww...thanks!

I love it! :)

Thanks! It was fun to make, even if it was, as my husband says, five minutes too long. Really, I was puttering around trying to figure out what kind of effects one can make and how.

Reminds me when I attempted to get the snow off my car with a bucket of hot water.

It didn't work like I had expected. I ended up with more ice on the car.

I loved this video! Not just because of the experiments but because we get to follow your joy in them. Beautiful!

Can you believe I've never done any of those things? And I lived in the northern part of Sweden for more than a decade, where -20C was the average temperature for months. I clearly missed out.

Btw, you realise that you've made your driveway into a rink now don't you?

[identity profile] nekosensei.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I realize it's a rink. Don't worry. It will melt. It's 20F today so that means, if we put some salt on it, it will work!

Or you just get one of these!

Hee hee!

You know, I've never been cross country skiing. Maybe I can remedy that this winter...

[identity profile] bibliofilen.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
You really should! Bring a thermos of hot chocolate, sandwiches and something to sit on and have a picnic somewhere nice.

*misses cross-country skiing*

I've been using your video to explain to people around here in Boston that no, really, it's not that cold, stop complaining. (It's 8 deg. F above zero here and people are spazzing out. Wimps.)

[identity profile] bibliofilen.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually think it feels colder when it's warmer because the moisture in the air isn't frozen and so it leads heat away from the body much faster.

Ideal winter conditions(imo)is -15 degrees Celsius, plenty of snow and sun.

Instant!snow...woah!

And aw. It's so nice to hear your voice!
