I ended up having some drama yesterday. For about a week-and-a-half, I had pain in the lower right hand side of my stomach. At first, I thought it was muscle strain from drum circle. I was playing the African drums, and you have to hold those between your thighs. My inner thighs hurt like crazy after it was over, and my stomach issues started up not long after that. I also didn't think I had appendicitis because I wasn't feeling particularly feverish. Late last week, I had made the decision to wait to see the doctor until October 4th as my husband was changing jobs and we would be on new, and a little bit better, insurance. That, and we wouldn't have insurance Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Well, things changed on Monday and Tuesday when the pain got worse. Tuesday night, I tried to resume my daily walk, and ended up turning around early because my stomach was bothering me. When I was in bed, I reached to pick up my cat, who was at the foot of my bed, and felt a sharp pain-- yeow! On Wednesday, I made an appointment to see my doctor after work. She took my temperature, showed me the thermometer, and said, "you have a fever." This floored me because I wasn't feeling particularly feverish. She felt my forehead and said, "yeah, you're warm." So...she poked and prodded some more, I said ow, and she decided that I needed to go to the hospital to have a CT Scan done to make sure I didn't have appendicitis. Joy.

I went home, dropped off my stuff from work, picked up doomsey, and we high tailed it over to the hospital. They made me drink that Barium crap *ugh* and three hours later they did the scan. Fortunately, it wasn't appendicitis so I didn't have to have surgery. They did, however, find a cyst on my ovary, which is what they think it causing the pain. And I understand that those can hurt like a mofo. So...I'm back at home. I haven't heard anything from my doctor yet, but I have a feeling that they're not going to be able to do much for it except monitor it.

Yeah...I have a feeling I'm going to be popping a lot of ibuprofen over the next couple of days.

Hmmm...maybe I should start paying more attention to this account as more and more of my friends are moving from to here from LJ-- which has been doing some bone-headed things lately.

Doh!

Overheard at dinner: "So...what time is my surprise birthday party at tomorrow?"

Yeah...somebody ruined the surprise. Whoopsies!

P.S. And no, it wasn't me. One of the birthdays being celebrated is mine.

And on a completely different topic, for those of you who don't follow my twitter updates, I managed to procure two tickets for the Lady Gaga concert in February. I'm taking my sister, who is looking forward to it just as much as I am.

I woke up this morning with a short story idea for a writing contest I was hoping to enter, but alas, I have to go to work. Ack! Why don't these things happen at more convenient times?

I'm writing down some notes to myself so that, hopefully, I can pick this up again when I get home.

The culprit of last night's dream must have been this little guy. [livejournal.com profile] doomsey brought it home from work yesterday afternoon.

Tee hee! Yes...my subconscious is really that random.

Also, you need to check out a video called Night of the Living Trekkies. It is hysterical! (Swiped from [livejournal.com profile] muntahz)

Scene 1:

Me: *madly types away on her computer*
Cosette: *jumps on the table*
Me: *flips through German textbook*
Cosette: *still sitting on the table*
Me: *doesn't find the answer and starts scratching her head*
Me: *looks at the cat* You don't know so happen to know what the past participle of laufen is, do you?
Cosette: *blinks*
Me: Yeah...I didn't think so.
Me: *goes back to typing away on her computer*

Scene 2:

Me: *tapping away on the computer*
Cosette: *plunks herself down the German textbook*
Me: *goes to use German textbook and realizes that there is a cat on it*
Me: I need to use my book...
Cosette: *blinks*
German textbook: *still being sat on*
Me: Please?
Cosette: *gives the human a kiss on the nose*
Me: Okay...maybe I don't need it that badly.... <-- Yeah...I am so whipped. :)

If there's a hungry T-rex running around outside looking for food, it might not be a good idea to stand in the window and watch. Just saying....

Also, while I know they grow a lot of strange critters in Australia, I didn't know that T-Rex was one of them. Nothing like a good ole' wild, free range T-Rex to break up a perfectly good outdoor dinner party. They should really sell insurance for that...just in case a guest or two gets eaten.

My dreams are so random sometimes.

I meant to write this post a few days ago, but time seemed to have gotten away from me again...

Labor Day Weekend was awesome. [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I drove out to Quincy, Illinois-- a town on the Mississippi River-- for [livejournal.com profile] forestdruid's wedding. Since [livejournal.com profile] doomsey was best man, he left on Thursday to help [livejournal.com profile] forestdruid and his soon-to-be wife run errands and, in general, get things set up for the ceremony on Sunday. I left late Friday morning with [livejournal.com profile] doomsey's parents and we pulled into Quincy just in time for dinner. My in-laws got dinner on their own, but [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I ate with the bride and groom's relatives. They were an awesome bunch, so I had tons of fun. I also got to practice speaking German with A's father. (Ich kann nicht so gut Deutsch sprechen. Did I say that right?)

[And since this gets kind of long...I'm going to have to put it all behind some cuts. Feel free to jump to the parts that sound interesting...or not read at all].
