Working in the Garden

I spent most of today weeding the front and back yard as well as doing other miscellaneous work outside (namely sweeing the walkway, patio, and stairs leading into the basement so they don't look so grungy). It took forever! I must have been out there five or six hours. That and weeding the Black-eyed Susans by the side of my garage was incredibly difficult. I had to be especially careful of pricking myself on the rosebush (it's already bitten me a couple of times). I still have to clear the weeds out of the way back area of the yard. Maybe I'll get more time tomorrow?

Speaking of the back yard, the creeping charlie is taking over! And I have to pull a ton of it out of the way back by the trees. Help! Luckily, we have TruGreen coming out to treat the yard soon.

While I was weeding by the rosebush, I saw skin that a garter snake had molted. Cool! I love garter snakes. I remember catching one once and then giving it to my science teacher when I was in seventh grade. Unfortunately, doomsey managed to run one over with the lawnmower a couple of weeks ago. He felt really bad about it. I hope we get more of them and they make more garter snakes because they're cool...and they eat bugs. [Edit: I keep teasing doomsey that I want to catch one and keep it as a pet. Unfortunately, I'd have to catch bugs and feed them to it. Yeah...I guess they're staying out in the garden because I don't like bugs].

My back hurts a lot from bending over so much to weed. I took ibruprofen, but damn. Oww. Hmm...maybe I should take a break tomorrow and go back out there sometime next week.

Tonight, doomsey and I went with his folks to a Mexican / Cuban place for dinner. Drinking a yummy mohito is definitely a good way to relax after a day of hard work.
