Bad dreams...
May. 23rd, 2007 10:46 amLast night, I dreamt that there was a black bear on the prowl. It managed to get into an office building. Confused, it started to rampage and it was mauling people left and right. In my dream, I was running up the stairs headed toward that floor. For a second, I was wondering why I was heading towards the sound of people screaming (and dying) instead of away from it. Then, in the dream, I realized that I had a daughter who was trapped up there and then it all made sense. No way in hell I was going to leave one of my kids up there. Fortunately, it had a happy ending, which isn't usual in my nightmares. I dreamt that I found her hiding somewhere and managed to get her out without either one of us getting ourselves killed.
Oh...and I got a crappy night's sleep last night. I couldn't fall asleep for the life of me. And of course, I ended up waking up at six something. Grr...

Lots of stuff
May. 23rd, 2007 05:39 pmI've been doing a lot of work in my backyard and garden the past two days. Yesterday, I weeded the area in the way back of the backyard. I discovered one section that was completely overgrown with thistle. Man, that's really a bitch to pull. I had to use not one, but two pairs of gardening gloves. And if I touched the wrong part of the plant, it *still* pricked me. I eventually got to the point though where I was able to grab the bottom of the plant and pull it out with a flick of the wrist without hurting myself. Did I mention that there was a lot of it? I'm going to have to keep an eye on the area so I don't have to spend several hours doing it again. I also pulled a shitload of creeping charlie, but that's easier to pull because it doesn't prick you. That, and all you really have to do is grab a handful and pull since it's a vine.
I've discovered that yard work is a pain in the ass, but you do get a lot of exercise doing it. Sometimes, it's also rewarding. Yesterday, I saw a pretty butterfly land on our lilac bushes. Speaking of critters, on Monday I bought a feeder for hummingbirds from Home Despot, but
doomsey complained about me spending money on it. That, and he doesn't want birdfeeders because birds crap all over the place. Seriously, how much crap does a *hummingbird* produce? That, and the birdfeeder was cheap...less than ten dollars.
Today, I finished weeding out by the way back. I also pulled weeds in the other two gardens (one along the garage and the other on the edge of our property). Then, I watered. The Black-Eyed Susans by the garage really needed it since the ground there was dry. I also attacked our lawn with the sprinkler. Since I was dirty from weeding, I washed myself up a bit in the sprinkler until I could take a proper shower. I wore a bathing suit and a light pair of sweats while weeding since I knew that it was going to be somewhat hot out and that I could always take a nice little run through the sprinkler. Speaking of hoses, I think I need to buy a longer one. The one that came with the house doesn't reach the back part of our yard. That and the one end leaks like you wouldn't believe.
Man...I am dead tired. I want to sleep, but we have anime night tonight.
Yesterday,
doomsey and I met up with
ghostandfriends,
2515049,
tambreet and M. for Indian food. The place we went too had recently re-opened after burning down a while ago. As always, the food was excellent. Before going to the restaurant,
doomsey,
ghostandfriends, and I went to an Indian grocery store and ended up doing a bit of shopping. We now have nan and other goodies. We also looked at saris in a store that was still open. After dinner,
tambreet,
2515049, and M. went to get beer. Since I was dead tired from gardening,
doomsey had to wake up early for work, and
ghostandfriends didn't want to go out drinking, we went back to
ghostandfriends' place, had Scotch, and talked. Mmm...Scotch. Correction:
doomsey didn't have Scotch since he doesn't drink.
That's what's up with me. Even though the spring semester has ended, I'm still keeping myself busy!
