Last night, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I had all-you-can-eat sushi for dinner. Then, we watched Persepolis, an animated movie about a girl growing up in Iran, and later Vienna, after the shah was overthrown. Actually, I did some poking around on the director's IMDB page, and it appears that the story was autobiographical. She didn't even change any of the names of the people involved. Anyhow, I thought it was a great movie, and I would definitely recommend it.

And for those of you who celebrate it, Happy Easter!

Is it me, or was this an incredibly bad idea for both the pope and the journalist? Pope Benedict sure does have a habit of pissing off the Muslims, doesn't he?

I agree with the statement below:

Muslim groups in Italy said Mr Allam would have done better to have undergone a low key conversion at a local parish. "What amazes me is the high profile the Vatican has given this conversion," said Yaha Sergio Yahe Pallavicini, deputy head of the Italian Islamic Religious Community.

That was exactly what I was thinking when I started reading the article.
