I'm going to borrow a line from [livejournal.com profile] jlindquist here.

It's nah a tumaaahhh!

I got the results from the cardiologist today when I went in for a physical / blood draw to have my INR tested. My echocardiogram is normal!!! Now my doctor seems to think that it might have been a small blood clot that has since dissolved. I was kind of confused by this, and I'm wondering if she might have been too because she didn't have my records in front of her at the time. Back in August, she told me that the echocardiogram done at the hospital in January did not show anything out of the norm in my left atrium. When she explained what was going on, she said that either it was a shadow or it was something new. It was then that she told me she wanted to repeat the echocardiogram in three months to make sure it was the former and not something we had to be worried about. At the time, she seemed to think that it was just a shadow because it only showed up in one view of the heart. If it was really there, it would have showed up in another view. Today, she told me that the echocardiogram from the hospital did show something, and that it must have been a small blood clot because "it showed up twice." This contradicted what she had told me back in August. When I asked her for more information, I had to remind her that she decided to do the echo back in August because I was having heart palpitations, which she heard in her office. She was under the impression that she had ordered the August echo to follow up on the echocardiogram done during my hospital stay. Was she mis-remembering what the report from hospital said?

Huh. Obviously someone is mis-communicating something here. I'm thinking she has her timeline confused and she thought that the spot was there when I had the PE and, therefore, must have been a clot. Personally, I think it was probably just a shadow and she wasn't remembering things right because she didn't have my chart in front of her. I think I'm going to ask her to clarify things more when she calls to give me the results of my INR and repeat back to her what she told me in August and what she told me today. I just want to make sure I haven't been doing anything crazy like throwing more blood clots since January or something stupid like that.

I guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth though. Whatever it was, my results are normal!
