No, of course not. But that is the reason why Rita Skeeter made such snide, suggestive commentary about their relationship.

I don't think it matters in the grand scheme of things what sexual orientation Dumbledore was. There's no reason why that revelation would change the relationship between Harry & Dumbledore. That's the same as praising a schoolteacher at one of your child's schools who was a very good mentor to the child as well as a friend until it came out that they were gay. Does that change the relationship betweeen the teacher & the student? No it dosen't and it shouldn't. A person is not defined by who they're attracted to. They are defined by their overall quality as a human being. While the announcement was a bit of a suprise to me, I still feel that Albus Dumbledore was one of the best characters in that series. The backbone of it if you will. Thousands of HP fans think almost the same way. That perception shouldn't change for that fan based on the character's sexual orientation. If it does, then that's an issue that goes deeper then anything J.K. Rowling has written.

Why the lecture? I know it doesn't matter that he's gay. That's something you don't have to point out to me. I wasn't knocking Dumbledore because of his sexual orientation. It was just something I didn't pick up on in the book (while others had) and I was surprised.

I wasn't trying to lecture. I know you never said that & I never assumed that you thought that way so please don't take offense. My reasoning for saying that was because I have a few friends who are for lack of a better word, homophobic & are big Harry Potter fans. Once the news spread that Dumbledore was gay, one of them gave all their books away saying that they can't believe they wasted all that time reading about a fag & that J.K. Rowling tricked them because she didn't give them the option of turning the books down due to the fact that there was a gay character in them. The point I was trying to make is that it shouldn't matter. If you're a fan of the books & of the characters in those books, that opinion shouldn't change just because one of those characters happens to be gay. Again, I wasn't aiming anything at you or anyone else posting on this thread. It was ment to be more of a commentary. I do apologize if it came out a bit too strong.
