Last night, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I had all-you-can-eat sushi for dinner. Then, we watched Persepolis, an animated movie about a girl growing up in Iran, and later Vienna, after the shah was overthrown. Actually, I did some poking around on the director's IMDB page, and it appears that the story was autobiographical. She didn't even change any of the names of the people involved. Anyhow, I thought it was a great movie, and I would definitely recommend it.

And for those of you who celebrate it, Happy Easter!

Persepolis was originally a graphic novel. I have a copy just behind me, which I look forward to reading! I think there's also a sequel. People who've read it say it's very good. Marjane Satrapi, or something similar, is the author's name.

man, I told dan to watch it back in early january.

yes Persepolis is not only autobiographical, but adapted directly from Satrapi's comics. Apparently she was approached by others to adapted as a movie and decided to do it herself. I read bits of the books and thought the movie is far better. For example, the scenes where she grew to become a woman are absolutely hysterical but aren't that funny in the books.

Oh I've been planning to see that. Thanks for the tip! The comic is really good as well.
