Stupid Kids

My walk today took me past a junior high school after school had let out. Less than half a block ahead of me, I noticed that there was a group of four or five boys. One of them thought it would be a good idea to jump into the right hand lane of a busy street and do a jig in front of an oncoming car. Said car had to brake because of the jackass who was dancing in front of them. If I had been that kid's mother, I would have shot him or something. He would have been grounded until the birth of his first born.

Finally, the stupid kid got out of the street and the group started walking in my direction. This was the conversation that followed:

Me: Hey! I saw what you did up there. That was really stupid. Do you want to get yourself killed?

Kid: (being sarcastic) Yeah.

Me: If that's the way you feel, maybe you need to see a shrink.

Then, I turned my music back on and walked away. I heard the kids yelling things after me, but I didn't hear what they said. They were probably calling me a bitch or something. Maybe those kids do need to go play in traffic after all.

I'm so glad that I'm not teaching high school or junior high school. It seems that, over time, kids get more and more brazen.

Having dealt with that category often enough, that crowd's the exception to the rule. It's that handful of dickmunches that gives the whole age group a bad name.

The real tragedy is that, when one of those boys does finally get the collision he deserves, it's going to be the poor sucker who hits him that suffers the worst. You know the parents (and their lawyer) will never believe that precious snowflake deliberately jumped in front of a moving car!
