I got my laptop back this afternoon!

Last weekend, I ended up sending it in to Apple because it was over-heating and shutting down. I noticed that the fan wasn't turning on, and I figured that it was broken. The wireless was also being kind of flaky. They took it apart and said that it wasn't just the fan that was broken, it was the logic board. They replaced a part and it seems to be working fine now.

No. There's a lot you can fix. My husband has a ph.D in electrical engineering, and I've seen him fix desktops and non-Apple laptops all of the time. I've also seen him build computers from scratch too. The reason he didn't try to fix my laptop by himself is that we have an extended warranty on it. If he had gone tinkering around in there, he could have voided the warranty. The great thing about the extended warranty is that, if certain things on the computer breaks, they fix it for free.

Yay! I got my laptop back too! (Loaned it to nekosensei!) :)

Worst part is I had to use a laptop running Windows Vista while she had mine. Yuck!
