Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] jlindquist linked to an article by the Daily Kos in which they speculate that Sarah Palin's fifth child, Trig, is her grandson and not her son. They argue that the real mother is her daughter, Bristol. When Sarah Palin announced that she was seven months pregnant during her term as governor, her staff was shocked and it did not look like she was pregnant. On the other hand, pictures of Bristol from late 2007 looks like she has a baby bump.

So...what are your thoughts on this?

She is supposedly seven months pregnant in this picture. Keep in mind that women who are on their second, third, fourth pregnancies tend to show much sooner than people in their first.

Is she actually wearing a belt in the that picture?

Granted that all women show differently, but... I only made it to seven months pregnant. By that time, there is *no uncertainty* that you are expecting. You are a balloon, you waddle, and have gained a large amount of your baby weight.

I can't even believe I'm going to do this, but to illustrate:

Image (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v464/SoulofaJedi/?action=view&current=bump.jpg)

That was me, about three weeks before S. was born. 7 months pregnant. No hiding it. This is one of the only pictures I have of the bump. You could literally rest a soda can on it without spilling.

In my opinion as one who's had a baby, there is NO WAY that Palin is pregnant. She has a waistline. She is wearing spikey high heels. She's drinking coffee. (Caffiene is supposed to be consumed only in small quantities because it can cause defects to the fetus.)

If you're leaking amniotic fluid, it's not something you can control... It's like a prick in a water balloon. It would have looked like she was wetting her pants while giving the speech. And it brings on labor. Someone should have noticed something.

That's total BS, all over. This author called it right on the nose.

I saw that video. She was walking on an icy road in spiky heels. I'm sorry, but doing that while you're pregnant is kind of dumb. What if you take a fall? And if she was leaking amniotic fluid while she was in Texas, why not have the baby in Texas? Getting on an 8 hour flight to Alaska while you're in labor is stupid. I mean...she was taking an awfully big risk there.

You know...now that I look at it again, it looks that black shiny bit by her waist is actually the bottom half of her scarf.

I just zoomed in and it's the bottom half of the scarf

Hmm...she does look pregnant here (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://bp2.blogger.com/_hWAVXHNngbk/R89gjpOflrI/AAAAAAAAAmk/NGZm_3GOGmc/s320/govp_washingtondc2008_large.preview.jpg&imgrefurl=http://progressivealaska.blogspot.com/2008/03/governor-delivers-to-deliver-another.html&h=213&w=320&sz=19&hl=en&start=77&um=1&usg=__hQt86dWo9BsXk5GvI6bDCj79d2s=&tbnid=vlByrLQCMUFIvM:&tbnh=79&tbnw=118&prev=/images%3Fq%3DSarah%2BPalin%2Bpregnant%26start%3D60%26ndsp%3D20%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den%26sa%3DN). That's the only picture I could find though.

Because every woman is different until we have proof like a medical professional at the birth of the child, basically we have to wait. Picture evidence is not always the best. For me, the girl looks like she has fat around her tummy. But that's just me.

It could be true-- but until there is proof I am willing to give her the benifit of doubt

It wasn't great judgment, no... But what I mean is that you're so off-balance at that point that it's damn near impossible to walk in spike heels unless you're super woman. Your center of gravity shifts, and you fall down all the time walking on a flat surface, barefooted because that shift throws you so much. Spike heels? No way.

Whether or not it's true... The actions taken while in "labor" show a serious lack of judgment. A high risk, downs syndrome, older mom pregnancy doesn't wait to go to a hospital and give a speech, fly 8+ hours to a small town hospital to give birth to a premature baby... unless there are judgment issues. So she's either a big liar or has severe lack of judgment. Neither make me want to vote for her.

Geez

Totally not believable. If Palin lies about her personal life, what does that say about herself as a Politician?

I don't care so much whether it's her kid, her grandkid, or a foundling left on the doorstep in a basket. She's anti-abortion, anti-environment, and anti-separation of church & state.

McCain's running for office with the Church Lady as his backup, fergawdsake.

As a nurse, I can tell you that the chances of having a child with Down's Syndrome when you are young is something like 1 in 100,000. However, after age 35, the chances of having a child with Down's Syndrome goes up to 1 in 32. That last child has Down's Syndrome.

No opinion on the specific case, but I remember a friend of mine during the pregnancy of her second child, at 7 months if she was wearing an open jacket or a bit loose clothing you didn't notice the pregnancy at all, she just looked a bit plumper than usual, she now is pregnant with her third, and it's the same.

Just to say that it's not impossible

The daughter is what I looked like at five months with my first child. The second picture (I can't remember your name right now, but thank you for the brave demonstration!) is what I looked like at five months with my third.

All in all, I think she was going to cover for her daughter. I don't think she was seven months preggers in any of those pictures! Not a good move for a politician.
