I did it! Instead of just talking about it, I got off my butt and drove to Midlothian to visit Bachelor's Grove. What's even more amazing is that I didn't take anyone with me. I went by myself. I have a bunch of really cool pictures for my picture-a-day meme. I'm going to have to figure out which one I'm going to post on Sunday night. Then, I'll put the rest up on my picture account.

Most of the visit to the cemetery was uneventful, but there were some exceptions. I did two passes around the cemetery. One to take pictures and another to film a bit of video. Some mildly strange stuff happened after I took the picture of the headstone that said "Infant Daughter." Said stone was near the small pond where supposedly Al Capone's men used to dump the bodies of people he had bumped. I was walking around humming a tune I had to to memorize in high school (it's been stuck in my head for years) to put myself at ease (this is not out of the norm...I have a tendency to talk to myself when I'm alone anyway) when all of a sudden I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. It was as if someone had walked from right to left in a part of the cemetery I had visited not long before. I looked in the direction I had seen the movement coming from and stood still. I didn't see anything outside of the norm so I was headed to the western half of the cemetery to take pictures of some headstones I hadn't seen yet, when all of a sudden I saw a tall stalk of grass that was just in front of my feet shoot up in the air and then float in midair for a bit before dropping back to the ground. My reaction: I stopped and stared at it, said, "well, that was weird," and then went back to taking pictures. Then, I made another pass and took video. I'm not sure it was the wind or not because whatever it was didn't repeat itself. I still can't believe that I didn't just drop everything and run screaming out of the cemetery like I thought I would have done. I guess I reacted that way because I didn't really feel threatened. I kind of picture it as a little kid playing a prank by running around with the stalk of grass over its head. The only other weird thing that I had happen was an odd heavy feeling by the gravestone that said "Haceman," while I was feeling but that could be chalked up to old-fashioned paranoia. It was close to the entrance and right before I was going to leave.

My verdict: Possibly Haunted. It wasn't at all like the one I visited with friends in 2006. Speaking of friends, one of these days I have to go back there with more people in tow. I would love to hear their impressions of the place. It would also be nice to have another pair of eyes looking at things.
