I'm feeling like a slacker today, so instead of getting work done, I decided to drag out the karaoke machine and start putzing with it. Then, I thought it would be a great idea to record myself singing something on my crappy camera. Since people seem to like it when I sing something high and pretty, I decided to record "Think of Me" from The Phantom of the Opera.

Oh no she didn't...

The camera only records for three minutes, and cuts off the very end, but you get the picture. I also ended up singing the part of Raoul too just for kicks.

I'm IM'ing [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and he told me that recording it on my camera is stupid and that I should find a way to record it directly from the Karaoke box. Well, I don't know how to do that Mr. Smarty Pants and my laptop is still at Apple. Instead...I'm going to be lazy. I'm going to record the damn thing on my camera and get it over with.

[Edit: I'm noticing that my voice has changed a bit. My voice is more cooperative at the higher end of my range than the lower. Huh. Weird].

Previous Books )

10. We Were the Mulvaneys by Joyce Carol Oates -- I bought this book several years ago from a sale at a local library. It looks like it's been read a lot because, wow, is it falling apart. Sections of the book kept falling out of it as I was reading it. It's been sitting on my shelf for awhile, and recently, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey picked it up and read it while he was traveling out of town. He said that it was pretty good so I decided to give it a read. It's very very sad. We Were the Mulvaneys tells the story of a seemingly happy family living in rural New York. Then, after a dance in 1976, the daughter gets drunk at a party and is raped. The father, whose pride is wounded, turns into a drama queen, takes up drinking, and expels his daughter from the family. Over the next few years, the Mulvaney family falls apart.

On Friday, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I had dinner at Amada's Cafe with his family. I ordered chilaquiles. Mmm...chilaquiles.

On Saturday, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey went to Graue Mill to show a friend how to use her new camera while I stayed home and got work done. When they were finished, they picked me up and we went out to lunch. We also went to Best Buy because G. wanted to look at lens. I perused the movies section, but didn't buy anything. I concluded that I really do need to sign up for Netflix sometime.

On Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey, his family, and I went to Ren Faire. [livejournal.com profile] judygs and [livejournal.com profile] emygination got me a new bodice as an early birthday present from Pendragon. My old one no longer fits as well because I had lost a lot of weight. I'm happy I caved and let them buy me one because I have to admit that it does look quite nice on me. I also bought myself a new belt to go with the bodice and more comfortable shoes.

Oh...I also ran into someone I went to school with ten years ago. Unfortunately, he couldn't talk because he had to be in character. It's a small world, isn't it?

After the Faire closed, we went to Yummy Bowl in our old stomping grounds for dinner. It's been two years since we've last eaten there. As always, the food was delicious. What was really funny, though, was when we first walked in the door. Everybody stared because we were all dressed in garb--with the exception of [livejournal.com profile] doomsey because he's a stick in the mud. I think he would look very cute in garb, but he will have none of it. Any time I pick something up and say that we should get it for him, he threatens to stay home the next time we go to Ren Faire.
