Hmm...I haven't felt like posting very much recently. Here's a quick update.

The Superbowl Party was a lot of fun even if the Bears didn't win. Personally, I'm happy that they made it as far as they did. At the party, I was joking around and saying that maybe my sister checked in on the game after the second half because that's when they started tanking. My sister is a jinx, and whenever she walks into a room where a game is playing, the team she roots for starts to lose. Seriously, whenever I'm at a family gathering and there's a game on, she's usually banished from the room. :)

I finally finished that scarf I was working on. Because I used a stock and net stitch, the scarf tends to curl in on itself. Fortunately, I've gotten an advice from several different people that should work. Yesterday, I started working on my neice's baby blanket. I was going to use a double seed stitch, but after playing around with a small swatch, I decided that, since the yarn I'm using is busy anyway (it's purple and has bits of silver in it) that using a complicated stitch would make it look too busy. That...and I was sure that I would screw it up and end up taking apart half of the blanket at some point anyway. So...I went back to the stock and net stitch. So far...it looks nice. I hope my sister likes it. [Note: I'm starting to think that I might be the only family member who will end up giving her a baby blanket. The last update I received from my mom, she said that her blanket was "tangled" and that she was trying to untangle the yarn. My poor mom!] Maybe, I'll try a more complicated stitch on the next piece I work on.

I can't get that image to show, is that a piece of the babyblanket?

I can neither knit nor crochet, so have immense admiration for those who can!

No it's not. One of these days I need to take pictures of the things I'm working on. I need to run to the store first and get some Dreft (a mild detergent) to wash the scarf. I wanted to work on flattening it before I took a picture and posted it.

Hey, Kathleen, that's the "Stockinette" stitch.

Can't wait to see the scarf and blanket.

What you might want to do for the blanket is do a border in seed stitch (or another stitch that doesn't curl up: garter, rib, etc.) You can also do "patches" of different stitches if you wanted, because it might get boring to make such a big expanse of stockinette. It would be a good way to practice some different stitch patterns. :)
