Okay...last night's dream was a strange one. I dreamt that I was sitting on a park bench about a mile away from my house at night. I was surfing the web on my laptop and [livejournal.com profile] cosettemonster was sleeping on the bench next to me, much like what she does at home when I'm sitting on my living room couch. I was packing things up, when all of a sudden, I heard the neighborhood dogs start barking. Something was wrong. When I looked up, I saw a coyote. Even though it was dark, I could tell that he was kind of a ruddy color. I could see pointed ears, a muzzle, and eyes that glowed in the dark. He started approaching, and I knew that he wanted to have [livejournal.com profile] cosettemonster for dinner . Fortunately for me, [livejournal.com profile] cosettemonster was still asleep and completely unaware as to what was going on...so I picked her up. If she had seen the coyote, she would have panicked and tried to run away. Carrying [livejournal.com profile] cosettemonster, I tried to shoo the annoying coyote away, thinking that coyotes are afraid of humans and that I might be able to scare it away. I even growled at it like a dog. It didn't work. The coyote yipped and before I knew it, I saw about seven or eight more pairs of glowing eyes. They came out of someone's backyard and started to surround me. Before I woke up, I realized that there was no way in hell I was going to put [livejournal.com profile] cosettemonster down and let her fend for herself. I also realized that chances were really good that I was about to get mauled and I was fully prepared to take one for the cat.

Yeah...I know...I'm a crazy cat lady. What can I say, I love that cat.

[Edit: So...I'm wondering if maybe this proves that I have a mother instinct after all, and since I have no human children, it's been displaced onto the cat. Just a thought.]

I'm pretty sure that non-dream, real-life coyotes are loners, not pack critters. Not that knowing that helps much. :-)
