I mentioned yesterday that I should probably blog about my interesting day on Monday. In the afternoon, I went for a three and a half mile walk, and when I was about a block and a half away from my house, I noticed these two college age kids chasing after their dog. If I had known the dog had gotten lose on them, I would have grabbed it because it had stopped to sniff at my hand. I figure that I would let it continue sniffing until its owners showed up. Bad move. As soon as they rounded the corner, the dog bolted and led them on a merry chase. Since no one else was helping them, I decided to lend them a hand. We ended up chasing that dang dog for the next half an hour to forty-five minutes. Let's see...we chased it through our neighborhood, through a park, and then finally we cornered it in a neighbor's backyard. The owners tried getting their car and coaxing it into the back seat. Nope. Then they tried bringing the second dog, which doesn't run. Nope. Still wouldn't let us grab him. That dog was fast and too smart for its own good. The only people who helped us were a group of kids who had come to the park to play a game. One of them had food and offered it to the dog hoping that it would pause long enough to eat it to let its owner grab it. Nope. That dog was having none of that. So...not only did I walk three and a half miles, but I also chased a dog around. I got a lot of exercise on Monday...

At about four in the afternoon, a neighbor knocked on my door and said that they had shut off the water on our block because of "hydrant flushing" and that it would be out for the next three to four hours. I had started the dishwasher earlier, but fortunately, by the time they shut off the water, it was done. I thought it would only be a minor inconvenience and went about my day. By the time nine o'clock rolled around, the water still was not back on. I ended up calling the police department's non-emergency number, and they informed me that there had been a water main break and that I could ask the people working on it down the street when they thought the water would come back on. I walked over and was told that it wasn't going to be back until early morning. Gah. Since [livejournal.com profile] doomsey had to be out early for an appointment, he decided to go to his parents' house and I got dragged ended up going with him. Big mistake. I should have stayed at home. I've always had a hard time sleeping at other people's houses, and when you're already struggling with insomnia on top of it, it's pretty fricking impossible for me to get sleep anywhere except at home. I ended up laying in bed staring up at the ceiling for several hours. At about three in the morning, I gave up. As soon as the clock struck three, I gave [livejournal.com profile] doomsey a round house kick for insisting on dragging me along with him (if I couldn't get to sleep, he wasn't sleeping either). He woke up and replied with something to the effect of, "what was that for?" Then I packed things up and went home, thinking I would sleep better there. I had a lot of work that I had to get done, and I needed to get sleep. And you know what? I was right. I got home and fell asleep right away. Oh...and the water was also back on by that point.

Tuesday sucked big time because of the lack of sleep. I ended up not getting all of my work done because of a really bad migraine. I was pissy all day. Fortunately, I took one of my Ambien and went to bed early so I was a much happier [livejournal.com profile] nekosensei on Wednesday...
