other sources indicate that he has had training and has even done some "vanity" shows (i.e., the kind where the cast pays to do it)

He's sounds good though. Did you notice that he had such a sad face before he went on to perform? I wonder what was up with that. Did he think that he had no hope and that he was going to get torn to shreds or something?

I am not a fan of Opera by any stretch of the imagination, but this guy is phenomenal!
