1. The human Christ: the search for the historical Jesus by Charlotte Allen. [I forget this one. Ancient history interests me, but I thought this one was a little on the dry side.]
2. Lisey's Story by Stephen King
3. Orientalism by Edward Said
4. I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb
5. The curious incident of the dog in the night-time by Mark Haddon
6. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
7. Language death: The Life Cycle of a Scottish Gaelic Dialect by Nancy C. Dorian
8. Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand
9. The Inferno by Dante Alighieri. Tranlated by Robert Pinsky.
10. Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See
11. The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson
12. Fray by Joss Whedon -- Okay...technically not a book in the traditional sense. It's a comic book written by Joss Whedon, who is the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and Angel. The story takes place several hundered years in the future when magic had disappeared from the world and there were no slayers. To me, it seems to be an interesting blend of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly.

You make me feel so inadequate. I should read. I really really should. I think it would help me sleep at night, too. My problem is when I pick a book up, I can't put it down. I'm an all or nothing kinda gal! I'm going to take a book on holidays; maybe get the kids to do the same. We'll all have some reading time each day. That would be relaxing! I have to get my hands on Snow Flower and the Secret Fan.

Well...the only reason I plowed through The Devil in the White City so fast is because I've been turned into a gimp. I probably would have spent Tuesday outside working on yardwork (I still have the way back and the front) to weed, but all of those plans have been put on hold. I've discovered that, there's only so much gimping around that I can do before it gets sore and I need to sit down. It seems like, taking a boat load of Tylenol, putting ice (later a heating pad) on it, and gimping a little bit and then resting have helped a bit. The doctor seems to think that it's going to be a week or two before it gets better.
