Telling someone who managed to kill not one, but two cats, through through their own negligence that they are an irresponsible pet-owner = getting banned from the community in question. I didn't even swear or call her names. All I said is that she was irresponsible.

Yep...that's what happens when you tell the God's honest truth.

Oh...by the way, letting your cat breed out of control, shutting one of the offspring's head in a door, and running another one over in your car = irresponsible pet-owner. I've owned three small kittens in my lifetime, and never have I killed one...let alone two before.

If I had known this was going to happen, I would have gone all out and called her a fucking idiot.

Some people shouldn't be allowed to have pets.

On the other hand...she got banned too. Good.

Oh...and [livejournal.com profile] doomsey saw the post in question when it was still up and agrees that I didn't do anything wrong...

What is it with all the stories of bad pet-owners today?? I didn't see the post, but I still say you did nothing wrong. Then again, I've never been one to hold back...

Seriously?!?

Why the hell did she have her kittens where she could freaking run over them in the first place?

That's a stupid ass, irresponsible thing to do.

I'm so freaking sick of stupid pet owners.

And I'm completely disgusted by the fact that I was banned by a community that calls themselves [livejournal.com profile] cat_lovers for telling her this...

There's a snark community that I'm in called [livejournal.com profile] stupid_free and KKKatKiller's post might be perfect for it.

Thanks for the tip. If they don't reinstate me, I'm going to amble on over there and trash catkiller and the moderators of [livejournal.com profile] cat_lovers. Cat lovers. Hah! What a bunch of hypocrites!

That's completly lame! I wish I had seen it before they took it down. But that's enough BS for me to leave the community. But you're right... That's an irresponsible pet-owner if I've ever heard of one. And calling it like you see it shouldn't get you banned.

This really bites. I've never been banned from a community before.

I've sent an email to the mods and asked nicely to be re-instated. I'm giving them a couple of days. After that, if I'm still banned, I'm going to see if I can start convincing members to leave. If they're going to ban me over this, the mods are both heavy-handed and hypocritical (aka definitely not cat lovers if they ban me for speaking up).

i know it's a bit of a stretch but, remember...

civil rights supporters? vietnam protesters? many got thrown in jail for saying exactly how they felt. sometimes doing the right thing is worth it, even if it lands you in trouble with the "law".

I've asked nicely to be re-instated. If it doesn't happen, "the laws" are going to be in big trouble, because I've already got several websites I can trash them on. I'm going to see if there's anyway I can start a boycott and take a few of their members with me...

Wow, I'm glad she got banned. I can't believe you did, though! Some of my friends look at me like I'm from another planet when I tell them my outdoor cats get their shots and get fixed...and I don't buy the cheapest cat food for them. Well, I love them. I'd like to have them around for a long time, and I can't kill kittens (and don't believe you should). They get a heating pad and heat lamp in the winter. If my daughter wasn't allergic, they'd be in the house.

It doesn't look like she was killing them intentionally. She was just being negligent. I can kind of see people accidentally killing a pet through an accident, but twice?? I've owned three small kittens, more acutally, and I never killed one off. You have to be careful.

I don't know. I didn't read the post or your response. I've posted on other forums where I've had people call me stupid, ignorant...careless...and I wasn't very fond of it...so no matter how "bad" things get I don't do it. I find that it just ends with me upset...and other people upset...and life's too short.

Is there a reason she aired such humiliating information in public? I mean...every year children drown in mop buckets...it's a freak accident. But you don't go calling that mother an ignorant murderer. They've already been punished. And when would..."I left a mop bucket in the kitchen and my kid drown in it." come up in a discussion in a forum. Are you sure this person wasn't a troll?

Or...was she in a rural area? It's very likely to have "outdoor" cats out on farms and in the suburbs...and they do have a habit of getting under, into...the car. Just like bunny chunks occasionally shoot out the lawnmower. It happens.

As for breeding your animal...unless you're a professional breeder...breending an animal to see "the miracle of life" is downright wrong. Hand's down. That's what I'd point out to the woman. Anyone who does it should have to work in a shelter for two weeks. If anyone wants to see the miracle of life that bad...almost every shelter in the country is looking for people to foster pregnant mothers and their kittens/pups. And I don't think there are a lot of people who do it twice...it's that much work...but again...in rural areas...outdoor animals are left to breed and fend for themselves.

Some people just don't "value" animals in the same way. It's hard...because I want to shake them sometimes...but then again...I do like rabbit with cream sauce...and some people keep bunnies as pets...

You know...I can understand one accident and I probably would have been more sympathetic, but two? You think she would learn to be more careful the first time around. And then she came on with her sob story and tried get us to feel sorry for her and I didn't buy it. Sorry...this lady really needed to get a clue. And then she wondered why people (and there were others besides myself) who started giving her a hard time. I'm sorry...but I have no problem telling people when they are being dumb.

I still can't believe that they banned me for it. I've never been banned from a community before. It's not like I started swearing at her and verbally abusing her. I told her she was irresponsible...and she was. I guess that's what happens when you grow a pair and tell people the truth...

And no...she wasn't a troll. She was sincere.

Well...some people ARE careless...and rather than learning from their mistakes...they tend to let the first one off-balance them enough to lead to more mistakes. It's true that some people shouldn't own pets...but I don't know I'd feel comfortable pointing that out to someone who already owns pets. It's like telling a mother they shouldn't have kids. They can't give em back!

Sometimes it's hard as to whether or not a dippy pet owner is better than no pet owner. I mean...a cat is probably better off with a dip than in a shelter. And if she was just careless and not abusive...the cat's quality of life was better than it would have been spending months in a shelter only to be euthanized...which is what happens to 90% of "oops" cats and dogs.

I just worry because it seems like you let other people's stupidity...and other birds...get you angry. Angry will make you tired and cranky and take up the time you could be spending kitty loving. :-)

Oh...and the moderators of that community suck. I was given no warning that I had "crossed a line" and no notification that I was banned. I was just banned and didn't find out until I had gone to post a comment given advice to another user. I sent them an email if we can discuss this, and nothing.

I'm giving them a few days to re-instate me. If they don't, I'm wandering over to [livejournal.com profile] stupid_free and other places and I'm going to trash the fricking hell out of both them and cat killer. I'm also thinking of seeing if there's a way I can draw away members through a boycott.

Um...whoah...slow down!! Don't waste your energy?

Trashing volunteer moderators...stress on the volunteer...in any open forum is a good way of starting flame wars...getting complaints lodged against you with LJ central...etc. True or not...if you DID name call someone in a community...it IS considered to be a violation of good manners...and is a violation of the posted policy on the cat_lover's community. "Stupid and careless" is considered namecalling to some. Maybe the moderator over there is sensitive...but here's their policy...

"-- No bashing other members. I like to think that everyone is mature enough not to do this, but there are usually a select few who aren't. If you happen to be one of those few, you will be banned. It's that simple. This is LiveJournal. I don't care what community you go to. There is always going to be drama one way or another. Deal with it."

I didn't write that...I copied it from cat_lovers user info. That is probably why you were banned.

So don't take this the wrong way...but it sounds like you lost your temper and got banned. Just find another community with people who don't run over their cats...and get back to the business of kitty lovin. Much more fun than angsty flame wars.

Meow, meow...

You know...if it's on a forum that's not part of [livejournal.com profile] cat_lovers, there's not much they can do about it. They can complain to LJ Central as much as they want. I'm allowed to voice my dissent on a forum, such as [livejournal.com profile] stupid_free, whose purpose is pretty much that...

Because telling someone who killed off two cats that they're irresponsible because they're *clearly* negligent is a stupid reason for banning someone. I thought this was a community called cat_lovers? Isn't that more than a little hypocritical?

I'm sorry, but if they're going to make stupid decisions, then they deserve all the stress that they get. If they can't handle it, than maybe they shouldn't moderate.

I'm sorry, I think you and I have a difference of opinion on this one...
