doomsey just IM'd me. He found out from one of the neighbors that we're not going to get our power back until Monday. doomsey seems to think that one of the reasons it's going to take so long is because of the tree that is resting on power lines across the street from our house. Wonderful. Just wonderful.

I'm at the in-law's house now doing laundry. Once it's finished, I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to get back online again.

Hmm...doomsey sent me a message saying that our neighbors are picking up the generator. Looks like they got it fixed. Hopefully, this means we're not going to lose everything in our refrigerator and freezer.

It may not be quite that long. We were told 72 hours at around 8:30 last night, and it came on less than three hours later.

I doubt it. There's a tree that's broken in half and lying on the power lines across the street. Police came by, put police tape in front of it, and then drove away. No one has been out there since.

We're were originally going to go down to C-U for a party this weekend, but we decided to stay put. We have the refrigerator hooked up to a generator that we're sharing with our neighbors and we don't want to go out of town and leave it unsupervised.

Yeah. I've been pondering the idea of having a natural gas backup generator installed in the back yard. It'll cost about $2000. But it may be worth it if ComEd continues to be overloaded every time there is a storm.
