A friend posted a link to this story today and I thought I would share. By the way, the pictures at the bottom are very graphic and disturbing. If you have a problem with that sort of thing, FYI.

This makes me so unbelieveably mad that they are killing off non-violent Buddhist monks.

Well...the Burma/Myanamar issue is OLD...back to 1948 when Britian pulled out and left a weak democratic government that had poor control over its military. The Burmese government is using some of the same rationalization that the Chinese government is using against Tibet. It's sad.I

The Burmese ties with China are so strong...that they really have no choice but to put down protest...or they'll lose Chinese investment. The rest of the world has pulled out of Burma...which in this case is a bad move...because it just leaves the country wide open for Chinese expansionism.

And though the government encourages tourism...tourist areas of Burma are maintained using forced labor.

But the only economic product that Burma "exports" is illegal drugs and young girls for the sex trade. So I don't see anyone taking a real interest.
