Someone on the thrombosis support group on yahoo posted a link to this article today. I read it and a few entries from the guy's blog and ended up bawling. Long story short, the guy's wife died from a pulmonary embolism the day after she gave birth to their first daughter. His description of how she died reminded me a lot of what happened to me. I told [livejournal.com profile] doomsey I felt "funny," passed out, and stopped breathing. I came pretty damn close to making my own husband a widower that day. I wanted to comment, but I don't know what to say so I don't think I will. I'm afraid that I'll make the guy more upset. I survived. His wife didn't.

Damn. I really am luck to still be here, aren't I?

[Edit: This is what's called "survivor's guilt," isn't it?]

Yes, it sounds like you do. Have you gone for counselling?

Not really. I figure that I'll eventually get over it the more time passes. But hearing stories like this really tugs at my heart strings, you know?
