Weekend Recap
May. 5th, 2008 11:16 pmSaturday afternoon,
doomsey and I went to the art fair that was in town and then visited
forestdruid and his mother, who were firing raku-ceramics. We decided to plunk down money for a vase, which we glazed ourselves and then handed to
forestdruid to fire. It came out quite nicely, and one of these days I'll have to post pictures of it.
On Saturday evening, we were supposed to go to Karyn's Cooked, but it turns out parties of six people need reservations on the weekend. The person who made the plans didn't think we needed a reservation, so guess where we didn't end up eating? I was a bit disappointed because I was off my Warfarin this weekend, and could have had vegetarian food. Instead, we went to Greek Isles, and fortunately I was able to get a cabbage salad there. It was very tasty. Mmm....saaaaaalad. Afterwards, we went to The Ballad of Emmett Till at the Goodman Theatre.
On Sunday,
doomsey and I went out with
linmayu,
2515049, and others to a park in Downers Grove where we had a lovely picnic. Later, we harassed the geese by the pond and-- this "plan" started out as a comment that I jokingly made on her journal several weeks ago-- several of us "raided the playground." Well, the only part we really took over were the swings. You know...they really don't make playground equipment like they used to. I remember the swings being much bigger and...oh...more dangerous. These ones were wimpy. Seriously. I think parents who worry that "Oh my God! My kids are going to get hurt on playground equipment!" are taking things a bit too far. Isn't falling down and banging yourself up supposed to be a right of passage or something? When we got bored, we took a walk around the park and went back to
linmayu and
2515049 where people played board games or played with Guitar Hero and/or Karaoke Revolution on the X-box.
All in all, it was a fun weekend.
