Maybe I should explain? A 'black and white' is an ice cream sundae from my childhood. BIG bowl, with vanilla ice cream (made in the store), chocolate sauce (made in the store), hot caramel (made in ... eh, you know), cherries, broken pieces of cashew and whipped cream.

Zanesville was on our way from home to my grandparents in southern Ohio, so every time we came back, we stopped at Toms. No one even pretended to want anything else, either. My sister and I would share one with my mom. Daddy got his own.

I wonder if Toms is even still there, and the 'black and white's would taste as good now?
