I'm currently watching the debate. I decided to move my commentary from Twitter to LJ because, well, there's a lot to mock here.

* Finally gets around to watching the debate. First thing out of McCain's mouth that pissed me off was the Nancy Reagan thing. Didn't he have a major falling out with the Reagan's right after he divorced his first wife?

* Second...Joe Plumber. My God. That's as bad as Joe Sixpack. No wonder Obama laughed at him.

* Wait...was McCain snickering at Obama off camera when he said that Warren Buffet could afford to pay more? He sounded like some high school kid joking around and snickering at the back of the room. Hey...this is a presidential debate. Don't act like you've just been throwing spit balls behind the teacher's back.

* "I am not George Bush. If you wanted to run against George Bush, you should have run four years ago." Yep, there's McNasty's famous temper for you.

* Awww...someone is butthurt because of John Lewis' comments.

* Wow....he wants Obama to repudiate those remarks? What about some of the comments made by some of the nutjobs attending his and Palin's rallies? Has McCain repudiated those? Wow...that's really shitty of him. Is anybody else offended by this?

* Yes. Bring up those rallies! Thank you!

* (applauds) Yeah...stick it to him!

* McCain: (sputters)

* Oh...they say nasty comments at your rallies about me too. Probably. But have they been calling you a terrorist, and Arab, and uttering death threats?

* Palin is a role model for women? Barf! Not this woman!

* Biden wanted to split Iraq into three different countries? That's a bad idea? You know, he might have a point...especially if it would have kept the Shi'ites, the Sunnis, and the Kurds from killing one another. The *only* good thing about Saddam Hussein was that he kept these three groups from plunging Iraq into an all out civil war.

* Nice flub! Nuclear power pants! I've got to get me some of those...

* And here we go with Joe the Plumber again!

* Heh heh. Senator Government. That was an interesting slip.

* Good explanation on why McCain's $5,000 tax credit is not going to work. I must admit that I knew it was going to cause people to lose their insurance, but how it would didn't make complete sense to me until now. This and Obama's position on energy are the reasons I'm such an ardent Obama supporter. If [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I were to lose our health insurance, I would have to pay up the nose for an individual plan because of all of my preconditions. Of course, that's assuming I could even *get* health insurance. Insurance companies are loathe to touch people with blood clots because, if you've had one, you're much more likely to have another one. So yeah.

* Hah hah! Yes! I am pro-abortion! Let's see. I don't have any plans this Saturday. I think I'm going to get knocked up and then get an abortion. Sounds like fun!

* McCain is still giving me that creepy uncle vibe when he talks. "Hey. Come here, kid! I've got some candy for you! Heh heh heh."

* Did McCain just say that some of the worst schools get the most money per student? Uh...not according to what I've been reading...

If it helps...

Joe the plumber's real first name is Joe.

You know, you'd think they'd use his last name instead of calling him "Joe the Plumber." It sounds condescending to me.

It's a long last name, and we know how senile old men are about big words.

[livejournal.com profile] doomsey just sent me this link (http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/10/16/joe-in-the-spotlight/?hp). Apparently, Joe the Plumber really isn't named Joe. His real name is Samuel. Maybe McCain really was pulling another Joe Sixpack stunt?

The article implies that he goes by Joe. Maybe he was named after his dad or something.
