Is there a yarn or craft store around you? Maybe you can sign up for lessons. I must say that, once you get the hang of it, knitting is very relaxing. I often knit when I'm talking with friends or watching tv.

I do have access to knitting stores, and I have a friend who knits regularly. She says the same thing you do about it. She would probably even teach me, I just need to find the time. Her and I struggle to make time to meet for lunch. But you know, I think I'm going to make it a goal for this year.
