Books I've Read So Far This Year
Apr. 26th, 2009 11:52 pm1. Coraline by Neil Gaiman
2. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
3.Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris
4. Club Dead by Charlaine Harris
5. (audiobook) Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman -- It must take me a long time to get through audiobooks because I started this one last summer, and didn't get around to finishing it until a few weeks ago. I usually listen to them while doing something else such as walking, gardening, or knitting. This was a collection of short stories. As always, they were very imaginative. I have no idea where this guy gets the inspiration for these stories, but I only know that I wish I were half as creative. I've had an idea for a novel percolating at the back of my mind and even written a chapter or two, but when I sit down to outline it, I feel like I'm hitting my head against a wall. Sometimes I feel like my problem is that, while I'm good at expressing myself on paper, I don't have much to write about. You know? And on a somewhat related note, it's a shame that the writing community I was in that had the weekly challenges died. One of these days I'm going to have to see if I can find something similar...
6. Roald Dahl's Book of Ghost Stories --
emygination gave this book to me as a Hanukkah present. A collection of short stories-- some of them very creepy-- by various authors. I think my favorites were "Ringing the Changes" by Robert Aickman and "The Sweeper" by A.M. Burrage. By the way, can you tell that I really like ghost stories? :)
