* Wow...the Saint Patrick's Day dinner I hosted for my family turned out well. And the fondue was amazing; it was a real hit with my family. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] doomsey, my mom, and my brother for helping me out when I needed an extra set of hands in the kitchen. Also many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] emygination for giving me the recipes for the soda bread and the Irish fondue.

* So...I couldn't get anyone to drink the left-over Guinness this afternoon. I'd drink it but I just can't stomach the taste. :(

* My nieces, who have never seen a cat before, got to briefly visit with my cats this afternoon. Arwen wanted to have nothing to do with them. Cosette hissed at them when they first came in the room, but after I sat with her, she was curious but cautious. Eventually both E. and C. were able to pet Cosette.

* Yay! Health care reform is going to happen. You can not understand how happy this makes me.

* [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I are watching all of the Republicans throwing a shit fit on C-SPAN. Most of them are bitching about how much the health care reform bill is going to raise the deficit. Oh really? Why didn't they pipe up when Bushy-boy led us into a un-necessary war that wasted billions of tax-payer dollars and got us absolutely nothing to show for it? Hmm???

* [livejournal.com profile] doomsey is amusing himself by surfing Twitter and laughing at all the insanity going on under the #killthebill hashtag.

* Good point (Link swiped from [livejournal.com profile] doomsey)

* Cute! 1968 ASCII Animation from Russia (Link swiped from [livejournal.com profile] popfiend)

* Tea baggers (and I have no problems calling them that) yell racist epithets at black congressmen, call Rep. Barney Frank a "faggot," and heckle a man with Parkinson's disease. Yeah...those people can go fuck themselves. (Links swiped from [livejournal.com profile] ginmar and [livejournal.com profile] rm)

* I've had a slight cold for the last two or three days. I swear that, now that I've gotten time to sit down and decompress, my cold has gotten worse. My sinuses are just awful.

I'm so glad the reform got passed. :)

Sounds like a fun St. Patrick's weekend. Better late than never.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to click on that link about the man with Parkinson's Disease, and I'm sorry I did. my father just died from Parkinson's, and thankfully he had good health care. but if he hadn't, then what! I can't say I understand any of what is going on there with this healthcare stuff - it's hard to follow, and I feel far away being in Japan. but people need to come together on this issue, and not be so divided, that I'm sure about.

sorry to hear your sinuses are bothering you so much.

and p.s. - I can't drink Guiness either. it is too heavy.

Eeep! Maybe I should have put that behind a link and said that was triggering. I'm so sorry you had to see that in light of everything you've been through. (((big hugs)))

oh it's okay - I clicked the link at my own risk. it's good only in that I can see the supreme idiocy that is existing in the U.S. right now - makes those people look like monsters, the ones throwing the dollar bills at that poor man. but it's hard to think of someone with Parkinson's (or any illness for that matter) not getting health care. Parkinson's is a horrible illness as it is, even with proper treatment.

*hugs*

Yes...I just can't understand some people's reactions to the health care reform bill. Some of them are crazy! (One of my friends thinks they're stupid and continually refers to them as "mouth-breathers") Anyhow, I think part of the problem is that the Republicans (backed by the health insurance companies) are airing alarmist ads on tv and reporters on Faux news are talking doom and gloom. Okay...yeah...this bill is going to cost us some money, but probably not as much as what we spent blowing up people in Iraq. Why didn't any of these clowns protest then? And this is a bill that's going to help people. What's so bad about helping sick people again?

(goes off to vent)

So leave the Guinness out in a small dish outside the house... in the garden maybe? If the Good Neighbors don't drink it down, you'll at least catch the slugs before they go for your roses.

Alas, both of my next door neighbors have children who are old enough to have an interest in alcohol. I'm afraid that, if I do that, one of them will drink it.

But yes...I had thought of leaving it outside and seeing who would take it, but then thought that, if a kid got into it, my neighbors would shoot me.

They would drink unmarked/unknown dark fluid, out of a dish, on the ground, under a rosebush, possibly with slugs already in it??
Your (human) neighbors are weird.
