I highly doubt the Americans put sharks in the river. Actually, some bull sharks can live in rivers. If i remember correctly, they give birth there? Other types of sharks that wander into rivers die because of the difference in salinity. Only bull sharks can survive.
I had run across this today and then i read your LJ and it made me think that, if the dam bursts, it will be our fault. Whether it is or is not idk, but it will be in the local opinion. What do you think?
oh, on the shark in the river thing, sharks have been found in fresh water. i rem one story of a huge shark in a rhode isl river attacking ppl a long time ago. all the ones i can think of though have been tidal rivers, so the water would have some salinity. all in all, i think its pretty absurd that someone wouldve planted the shark there for the purpose of attacking people, lol. its just crazy.
Personally, I think it's both the American's and the Iraqi's fault. The Iraqis are at fault because they mismanaged the money dedicated to the bridge's repair. And it's the American's fault for starting the war in the first place. We bit off a lot more than we could chew. It's also the previous government's fault for building the stupid dam in such a poor location in the first place.
Do you remember what kind of shark the Rhode Island one was? Bull sharks are probably the most aggressive sharks and they're more likely to attack humans. I believe there was also a Great White Shark that got stuck in a fairly shallow bay not far from the Boston area if I remember correctly. I don't believe it attacked anyone though. Of course, there were some pretty stupid kayakers who thought it would be a bright idea to paddle out into the bay to get a closer look...
i want to say it was a Great White. this was in the early 1900s. I was lving on the Gulf Coast when all of the bull shark attacks were prevalent. I was swimming a mile or so away when the coach from Robertsdale AL lost his arm to a bull shark. That was the first shark attack in 17 yrs (i think) in Alabama. We had alot that summer. All bull sharks.
That's odd that a Great White would attack that many people. I heard that they might take a nibble, but they usually decide that humans don't taste so good. Maybe this guy thought otherwise. That or he was hungry.
I still won't forget the Discovery Channel program I saw during shark week when a shark expert did an interview waist deep in water that had a ton of bull sharks in it. And he was surprised (surprised!) that one bit him. Hello?! Anybody home up there?
