Blergh. I have been sick since about Thursday, and I really haven't been feeling the greatest these past few days. Yesterday was the costume party at [livejournal.com profile] voidness' house. I got dressed as a vampire and went over there for a couple of hours. (Monster make-up is confusing! Next time, I'm going to use clown make-up and improvise). I didn't feel up to staying much longer. There were a lot of people there, it was loud, my voice was going...going...gone, it hurt to talk, and I didn't feel like shouting over people to be heard. I was also having a hard time breathing. So, I had [livejournal.com profile] doomsey take me home a little after nine o'clock. I told [livejournal.com profile] doomsey to go back to the party since he seemed to be having fun. I watched tv, knitted, and ended up coughing so much that I gave myself a nasty headache. Ouch!

Today, I didn't do much of anything. I sat on the couch and vegged out with the computer. Gosh, I didn't even shower or get dressed until six in the evening. That never happens. I hope I feel better by Tuesday.

Oh...as I told [livejournal.com profile] doomsey during dinner, I've also been a woman of few words because my voice is pretty much shot. Why do I keep losing my voice every time I get sick?

And now I leave you with a link and a meme.

This link is swiped from [livejournal.com profile] brightflashes. A group of people conducted an experiment in which they sent unlikely objects through the US Postal Service to see what would get delivered and what wouldn't.

The meme is from [livejournal.com profile] tx_cronopio:
If you could have seven homes like some unmentioned recent political candidate, where would you have them? For simplicity, let's limit this to the country in which you currently reside (Aww...that's no fun! I would love to live overseas so I'm including some non-US locations as well). So for me, that'd be the US. Obviously, we're pretending that money is no object.

- Chicago, IL
- San Francisco, CA
- Somewhere in the mountains outside Boulder or Golden, CO
- Tokyo, Japan
- Granada, Spain
- London, England
- Enh...I don't know. Someplace warm. Let's say Hawaii. It's warm year round and they don't get hurricanes.

So...does this mean I get to pick eleven cars now too?

Let's see. I can only come up with two: a Toyota Prius (wait...I already have that!) and a Tesla Roadster (Oooh! Shiny!)

Okay...I lied. I have one more link courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] ginmar. Obama is talking about reversing 200 of Bush's administrative actions and executive orders once he assumes office in January. It's about time that we start seeing some sanity in the White House!

Hm, so now we are going world wide with our 7 homes?

Well well well...
1. Bellaire Texas, where I already live
2. Harlingen Texas (they have wild parrots and neotropical birds!)
3. Monteverde Cloud Forest, Costa Rica
4. Somewhere outside of Corcovado National Park in Costa Rica
5. Perth, Australia
6. Some small town in Bavaria, Germany
7. Some tropical shack near the clay licks of Peru

Aside from Germany, every place I picked so I could get my birdwatching parrot watching fix.

Suuuuuure they don't.

"Since 1950 five hurricanes or tropical storms have caused serious damage in Hawaii. (http://www.soest.hawaii.edu/MET/Faculty/businger/poster/hurricane/) Hurricane Nina (1957) produced record winds in Honolulu. Hurricane Dot (1959) caused damage to Kauai. Hurricane Estelle (1986) produced very high surf on Hawaii and Maui and floods on Oahu. Kauai also received the brunt of Hurricane Iwa, which struck on 23 November 1982 and produced an estimated $234 million in damage. "

"Hurricanes are relatively rare events in the Hawaiian Islands," to be sure. But they do come.

I've always thought of living in Hawaii too - with or without the hurricanes, it would be beautiful!

Of course, it did just occur to me that, depending upon where I lived on the island, I would have to put up with volcanic activity. That would be kind of creepy...

aw, I hope you feel better soon - or already!!

Boulder is beautiful - it's where I wanted to live when I was in high school and living near Denver - but then I moved to California and that was not possible anymore.

if I could have 7 homes anywhere, I'd choose Seattle, Boston, Maine, Hawaii, northern California (near the redwoods, where I went to school), Izu peninsula in Japan and maybe somewhere on the Oregon coast.

*sigh* to dream!!
