This weekend has been pretty busy. On Friday, I had physical therapy and afterwards I had to take the cat to the vet. I also picked up some much needed file cabinets from a freecycler and shopped for office supplies. We had invited [livejournal.com profile] judygs, [livejournal.com profile] bmtstandard, and [livejournal.com profile] emygination over for dinner, so [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I stopped at Chow to Go and picked up a bunch of food. The neighbor's son was doing a fundraiser for his school, so we bought pie from him and it was delivered this week. We didn't realize, however, that it needed to be baked since both [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I have been so busy lately. So...after dinner...we put the pie in the oven and then went downstairs to watch Ratatouille.

Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I went to the hardware store and then grocery shopping. That evening, we went with his family, J, and A. to see The Cook at the Goodman Theater. That was one damn good play. We had planned to go to a Moroccan place for dinner last night (the name of the place escapes me at the moment), but when we pulled up, we discovered that they were closed. We tried another place, but they were closed too. We ended up at Sabri Nahari, a Pakistani place, instead. As always, the food there was excellent.

I didn't do anything interesting today because I've been working like mad. We're approaching the end of the semester where things get busy busy.

I'm so jealous. The most exciting restaurants we have around here are Thai (1) and ... oh wait, that's it. The Greek place that was 20 miles away closed and the Vietnamese place hasn't been open in weeks (don't know if they closed or not).

::le sigh::

Wow....that really sucks...

I take it you don't have any grocery stores like Trader Joes or Whole Foods either? I really like eating a wide variety of ethnic food and I would really hate living somewhere where I couldn't...

There's not a Trader Joes to be found. Whole Foods started in Austin (about 95 miles away) but that's a heck of a way to go for groceries. :-)

I've gotten to eat ethnic foods over the years, mostly when I go to Houston to visit my sister, but there just isn't anything around here. I take that back, we have about 354658 mexican places. :-)
