* Yesterday it was almost 65 degrees and I was able to have the windows open for part of the day. Today, it's 33 degrees and we're expecting between one and three inches of snow. Gotta love Spring in Chicago...

* Oh yeah...headed up to Milwaukee so I can set up a character for a LARP I will be participating in. Fortunately, I'm carpooling with someone else so I won't have to do a fuck-ton of driving.

* Podcasts Podcasts Podcasts. I'm currently listening to NPR's "This American Life" as well as "Buffy Between the Lines" and "Angel Between the Lines" when it's available. Now, I'm looking for more. Anybody know of any free podcasts that you think I'd enjoy listening to?

* Back from driving up to Milwaukee. During the drive there and back, it was snowing south of the Illinois-Wisconsin border, but it wasn't snowing north of the border at all. Weird.

* Please please please let this be true. (Link swiped from [livejournal.com profile] doomsey)

* I haven't even gotten out of my chair yet, and already Cosette is trying to steal my seat...the little shit.

* Did I mention that I really enjoy having artists on my friends list? Sometimes, they post links to more artists. A few days ago, [livejournal.com profile] kiwikat posted a link to Ashely Witter's art. Go look. I think her work is kind of neat.

* Great. I'm an idiot. There were two people I was supposed to buy birthday presents for, not one. Well, I will see the other person in a week or two, so it's no big deal. I can give them their present then. I still feel like a moron though.

* Posting these two links more for myself so that I can go back to them and read them. I really need to get back into writing that book I started in November. Or at least spend more time writing in general. But no, I keep saying I should do it and then put it off...

* There were eleven of us playing Apples to Apples today. [livejournal.com profile] judgys got the red cards bongos and bon-bons for the word, profound. I thought that was amusing for whatever reason.

* So...we're supposed to get about eight inches of snow Sunday night into Monday. What happened to the spring like weather??

* Okay...now this is...weird. It would be cool if there were some merit to it though. (Swiped from [livejournal.com profile] laurainlimbo

* School used student laptop webcams to spy on them at school and home. Now that's just downright creepy...

* Overall, I think not drinking caffeine is a good thing, but there are some days where I really really miss it. My wagon has been dragging yesterday and today. I could really use a little extra something to kick my ass in gear. Too bad I can't handle stimulants anymore...

* Amanda Palmer has been getting some flak about her new Evelyn Evelyn album; some fans are complaining that it's offensive to disabled people. As for me, I think I'm going to reserve judgment until I hear the album. From what little I've read, Evelyn Evelyn is an album made by a fictitious pair of conjoined twins. Okay...so...her subject matter revolves around disabled twins with a difficult live. What's so offensive about that? What's more important is how she deals with the subject matter in her album. If she's pokes fun at them in her music, then yeah, that's going to be a problem. On the other hand, if she's going to use the album to make a statement about disability and what not, then I don't see what the big deal is. My opinion is that people need to calm the fuck down until the album comes out on March 30th.

* Second day in a row that I took a three mile walk. The temperatures went into the lower 40s, so it was definitely a nice afternoon for a walk. If I'm lucky, maybe I'll get in some time to take another walk tomorrow. Also, this spring I intend to take my bike to a bike repair shop to see if I can get a tune up. It's been sitting unused in my garage for several years now. I think it would be nice if I could get out and start biking again.

* Looks like, if things go well, I'm going to do a LARP that meets once a week. It should be a lot of fun.

* Awww....poor kitty!

* Finally! I just managed to accomplish one of the Special Missions on Ghost Trappers, which is a Facebook game for those of you who are curious. It's taken me for-freaking-ever to finish one of those!

* Tigers becoming extinct in the wild. So sad. (Link swiped from [livejournal.com profile] rm)

* I want one! *snerk*

* Dropped off my "emergency crutches" at my in-laws' house. My father-in-law slipped on black ice at work and twisted his knee. Now, I hope I won't need them in mean time. (And yes, I have emergency crutches because I am a klutz).

* Picked up two books I've been meaning to read from the library today: Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger and The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly.

* Remember how I used to say that Cosette was a seat thief? In other words, whenever I got up to get something, I'd come back to see that she was sitting in the place I'd currently vacated? Well, now when I walk back into the room and say, "You stole my seat," she gets up and gives it back to me. Such a strange cat....

Holy crap! I managed to score a golden egg. And I was only refreshing half-heartedly while I waited for my next batch of bread to bake! Go figure. It took me weeks to score a silver egg, but only a few days of half-heartedly trying to get a golden...

So...for those of you who care, make sure you click on my silver and golden hatchlings/eggs so they don't die. Thanks!

Yesterday evening, LJ went down. What did I do? Well, I experimented with one of the recipes in my great-grandmother's book. I made Peach Kuchen. I think it came out okay. *keeps fingers crossed* I plan to take it the New Year's Eve Party tomorrow. I also puttered around on Dragon Cave and *finally* managed to snag myself a silver egg. It only took me forever. Finally, I read a couple hundred pages of Stephen King's Duma Key. I'm enjoying it. I'm only 60 pages from the end so it's getting really interesting.

So...last night I stayed up waiting for Santa Claus. He never showed up. :/

In other news, I've been trying to get some of the rarer eggs on Dragon Cave, and I just haven't had any luck. Today, they're giving away an egg with candy cane stripes, and someone else always snaps it out from under me. I have the same problems with the silver and gold ones. Does anybody else who plays this game have the same problem, or is it because my computer is too slow?

Let's see. What did we do this weekend?

Friday evening, we went out to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] doomsey's family.

On Saturday, we went to the barbecue for [livejournal.com profile] doomsey's work. His boss has an in-ground pool so, towards the end of our stay there, we played pool volleyball. During one of the games we played, I was directly in front of the person serving getting ready to volley. Her serve ended up bouncing off my head and over the net. Everyone practically died laughing. It was hysterical. Unfortunately, it didn't count as a point. I think it should have. :)

After the barbecue, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I went to my parents' house to fix their computer. They picked up a computer virus that turned their machine into a spambot. They didn't notice until someone at AT&T cut off their modem. [livejournal.com profile] doomsey made sure that their computer was free of viruses and that the modem was back up and working.

Sunday morning, we went met up with some friends who came in from out of town and had breakfast at Egg Harbor Cafe. In the afternoon, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey, his family, and I headed over to the Kane County Cougar's game. The game itself was boring because I loathe watching sports, but I enjoyed some of the antics from the crowd and on the field in between innings. I spent most of the game poking fun at the event on Twitter or knitting. I got a lot of work done on my baby blanket. Oh...I also had an opportunity to compete on a Karoake contest, but ended up blowing it because of indecisiveness. (I didn't think any of the songs suited my voice well. My voice has changed since the PE, and I have a hard time singing rock songs. I'm much better at musicals). By the time I had made up my mind, the slot had been filled. And I definitely would have beat the guy who signed up before I would have. His singing was atrocious, probably because he had a bit too much to drink.

For dinner, we went to a new tapas restaurant that opened up in Wheaton about three weeks ago. It's called Cafe Galicia. The service was good and the food was excellent. I'm glad we stopped there because it turns out that [livejournal.com profile] judygs had never had tapas before.

This is the first day I didn't go in to work with [livejournal.com profile] doomsey today. Yes...I know...I'm such a wuss. So far, everything is going okay. I have a cell phone in my pocket and my front door is unlocked. Actually, this is kind of nice because I don't have to get up in the morning. Also, there isn't much to do at [livejournal.com profile] doomsey's office except use my laptop, read, and knit, all of which aggravate the neck sprain I got several months ago. At home, I can use the desktop computer and watch tv, which won't piss things off as much.

By the way [livejournal.com profile] doomsey, I unloaded the dish washer and put the dirty dishes inside of it before the cleaning ladies came over. Do I get a cookie? :)

Since my neck is being pissy, I think I'm going to spend most of this morning and afternoon watching tv and playing cheating at SimCity4. I started playing it a few days ago, and am close to running out of money. Yes, I know. I suck. But typing in "weakness pays" is going to be amusing. I guess I have a weird sense of humor, huh?

Over the weekend, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I went to three parties. On Saturday, we went to my sister's birthday party. We gave her and Andrew their Christmas present, a digital camera, a few weeks early. My sister loved it. She still has a film camera and she says that it's a pain in the ass to buy film and have it developed. I do have a birthday present for her, a scarf that I knitted, but it wasn't finished. I did manage to finish it yesterday though. All I have to do is cast off. I still don't know whether I'm going to put tassels on it or not. I think I'm going to take a picture of it and ask my friends list again.

After my sister's birthday party, we went to the pirate party at [livejournal.com profile] voidness' place. I dressed up in Ren Faire garb (my family was very amused when I changed into it to go to the party) and brought the little dagger that I had from my Halloween costume. I had a bit too much grog (man that was strong!) but otherwise I had a lot of fun.

Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I went to his parents' house to celebrate Hannukah a few days early since [livejournal.com profile] doomsey had to go to Germany during Hannukah. As always, the food was delicious and I got a really cool present from [livejournal.com profile] judygs. She replaced the lladro that [livejournal.com profile] doomsey had dropped and chipped two years ago when he replaced a shelf. Thanks! That was so awesome! Around six o'clock, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey's boss picked him up to take him to the airport. After [livejournal.com profile] doomsey left, a bunch of us played Apples to Apples. After the game, I went home because I was exhausted from not getting a lot of sleep the night before.

Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey's family and I went to Medieval Times to see the show there. This time, we had good seats because [livejournal.com profile] judygs managed to get us seats in the noble section, which comprised the first two rows. As always, the food was good. I also enjoyed the falconry (I love hawks and other birds of prey) as well as the white show horses. One of the knights tossed a flower in our general direction. I don't know if it was meant for our row or the one above us, but it fell between the two rows. [livejournal.com profile] emygination picked it up and handed it to me. I, in turn, handed it to Rayna since she would probably appreciate it more.

Because of the noise at Medieval Times, I ended up getting another migraine. This time, I took my migraine meds, and I think I ended up getting a bit loopy because of all the meds I was on. At one point, I stole crowns from [livejournal.com profile] doomsey's family and put them all on my head. I think I managed to wear four crowns at one time. [livejournal.com profile] doomsey has proof of this on camera, which I'm not going to post.

Today, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I met up with his parents and his Uncle Marty for brunch at Egg Harbor Cafe. By the way, the Bannana Bread French Toast was awesome. Afterwards, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I went to the Labor Day party at [livejournal.com profile] voidness' house. A bunch of us played a game called Betrayal at the House on the Hill, which was based on (and poked fun at) B-rated horror films. Hmmm...that's a game to consider buying because it was a lot of fun. I also brought my knitting with to [livejournal.com profile] voidness' party, and I managed to get a lot accomplished while I was talking with people or playing games. I wonder if I'm midly OCD because sometimes I want to do something with my hands. Knitting really does help with that.
