When I saw the large gaggle of dragon flies winging back and forth high above my garden while I was pulling veggies, I was like :D

When it became apparent that the reason we had a frenzy of dragon flies overhead was because my vegetable garden was teeming with mosquitoes thanks to it having flooded two weeks ago, my reaction changed to D:

Now, I have four squash, one poblano pepper...and three mosquito bites.

Well, I gotta look at the bright side. At least the dragon flies are taking care of 'em.

By the way, anybody want some squash?

I've also posted this question to Twitter.

On my daily walk, I keep passing a very beautiful tree whose leaves are green on top and silver on the bottom. The leaves are also slightly curvy, giving the tree an almost scalloped look. Today, I grabbed one of the leaves and took a picture of it when I got home. I've been admiring this tree for months, but still have no idea what kind of tree it is. Any tree huggers out there who have any idea what this is?

Here are the pictures:

Maybe I should have whipped out my iPhone and taken a picture of the tree itself, huh?

*Tonight is Passover. [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I are going to his parents' house for the passover seder this evening. Because they invite so many people over--more than twenty, including kids-- the whole thing is usually very chaotic. Too bad there's not a snowball's chance in hell of them doing this version of the Haggadah. (Link swiped from [livejournal.com profile] tx_cronopio

* Two female bombers blow themselves up in a Moscow subway station -- Thankfully, a former classmate of mine-- who is living in Moscow for a semester-- left a message not long after I read this saying he was okay and that he didn't get caught up in any of the insanity. And if you haven't read it already, you should go read [livejournal.com profile] ginmar's post on living in Moscow. It's very well written. (Link swiped from [livejournal.com profile] ginmar)

* Awwwww (Blame [livejournal.com profile] sheilagh)

* BBC Wildlife Photo Masterclasses -- I'm definitely going to have to download and read some of these guys since I particularly like doing nature photography and wildlife photography. And speaking of photography, I'm thinking about making a zoo trip sometime this week. I haven't been there in a few months...and I need to renew my membership.

* A story told in pictures -- Adorable! (Swiped from [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar)

* North Koreans Use Cellphones to Bare Secrets (Link swiped from [livejournal.com profile] rm)

* And...More clips from the new Doctor Who have been posted! I can't wait to watch the new episodes! (Link swiped from [livejournal.com profile] popfiend)

* I have much coolness to share with you. I'll have to do it tomorrow though because it's getting late, I'm tired, and my eye is pissed off for whatever reason so I can't see so well right now. I also haven't slept well for the past two night and OMG! I need to sleep.

Yeah...I got a little carried away with pictures this week. Also, for someone who doesn't like the snow or the cold, I certainly take a lot of pictures out in the snow and cold. What can I say? At least it's pretty.

As I may have mentioned earlier, [livejournal.com profile] doomsey and I went to Seattle on Thursday and came back yesterday afternoon. On Friday, a bunch of us went to Mount Rainier and hiked all the way to Comet Falls. Our friend, Kumar, found the hike in a book of hikes for kids. He saw that it was a 1.8 mile hike and thought it was doable for us and his family. Um...no. First, it was 1.8 miles uphill. Second, the ground was wet, and it was quite treacherous going downhill. I'm pretty damn lucky that I didn't end up skidding off the trail, down the mountain, and into the rapids below. Can you say certain death? If I had known ahead of time that we were going to do this hike, I would have procured a pair of hiking boots.

I also discovered this weekend that I'm better at high altitude hikes than my husband. You'd think with all of my lung issues, that it would be the reverse. Of course, it didn't hurt that I was guzzling water like there was no tomorrow.

Anyhow...I thought I would share this video that I took of Comet Falls. Pretty, huh?
